M.OU.CO Hotel Apartments: A Fusion of History and Innovation
M.OU.CO Hotel Apartments emerges from the rebirth of an old electrical components factory dating back to the 1980s. Situated in a mixed-use area of Porto, the project seamlessly blends heritage preservation with contemporary design.
Design Concept
From its inception, the project focused on a mixed-use program, combining a hotel with a concert hall. Emphasizing the industrial character of the original building, the design team retained the main facade while transforming the interior into a dynamic space for hospitality and cultural events.
Integration with the City
Central to the design philosophy was the integration of outdoor spaces, including a restaurant, music library, and concert hall, inviting the city to engage with the venue. By preserving existing building elements and incorporating them into the new design, M.OU.CO breathes new life into a neglected urban area.
Nostalgia and Innovation
While paying homage to the industrial past, M.OU.CO Hotel Apartments embraces innovation. The project honors the historical significance of the factory while adapting it to contemporary needs, reinforcing its industrial heritage through thoughtful restoration.
Minimalist Aesthetic
Clean lines and a monolithic aesthetic define the interior design, with materials like concrete, lime mortar, and natural wood creating a harmonious atmosphere. The use of these elements extends seamlessly from indoor to outdoor spaces, fostering a sense of continuity and tranquility.
Interior Design Excellence
Arquitectos Aliados curated the interior design package, including furniture and lighting, ensuring a cohesive and inviting ambiance throughout the hotel apartments. The result is a fusion of historical charm, modern elegance, and urban vibrancy, making M.OU.CO a destination where past and present converge in harmony.
