Reimagining the Carlsberg Group Central Office

A Historic Setting Revitalized

Situated within the historic Carlsberg City District, the new central office of the Carlsberg Group redefines the concept of a modern workplace while paying homage to its rich heritage. Designed by C.F. Møller Architects, the building comprises three wings converging into a central atrium, seamlessly blending with its surroundings.

Bridging Tradition and Modernity

One of the wings forms a contemporary gateway over a main access road, reminiscent of the district’s classical architecture. Meanwhile, the other wings embrace Carl Jacobsen’s historic garden and villa, creating a harmonious fusion of old and new.

Fostering Collaboration and Connectivity

The atrium serves as the heart of the building, offering panoramic views of Carl Jacobsen’s Garden and fostering a sense of community among employees. Connecting all floors, it promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing, enhancing organizational synergy.

Inviting and Inclusive Design

Characterized by expansive glass façades and copper-plated slats, the building exudes openness and transparency. Inside, a spacious staircase adorned with seating pads encourages informal meetings and social interactions, fostering a welcoming environment for both employees and visitors.

Versatile Workspaces and Thoughtful Integration

The faceted and angled design provides employees with diverse workplace settings and panoramic views. Temporary workstations, or “touch-down” areas, offer flexibility and adaptability to varying work needs. Additionally, the building’s scale and façade design harmonize with the historical context, ensuring seamless integration with the surrounding environment.

Embracing Sustainability and Accessibility

Designed as a low-energy, sustainable construction, the building prioritizes environmental stewardship and occupant well-being. Recycled copper, bamboo, solar cells, water-saving fixtures, and heat recovery ventilation systems contribute to its eco-friendly profile. A new water feature not only serves as a natural divider but also transforms the garden into a public recreational space, reflecting Carlsberg’s commitment to openness and accessibility.

By seamlessly blending historical context with contemporary design principles and sustainable practices, the Carlsberg Group Central Office emerges as a symbol of innovation, collaboration, and environmental responsibility.
